One of the images says CIPHERZ- which is this incredible Hiphop bar in district 3 in Saigon, Vietnam. The owner is a dedicated hiphop lover, vinyl collector, and turntablist. Every Tuesday night they have open decks and 4 different turntables where anyone can scratch and jam together. Sometimes people freestyle on the mic as well. Once a month they do open decks for beginners where the owner will show people how to do beginner scratch techniques for free. For the 3 months I lived in Vietnam this year, I went there 1-2 times every week to catch vinyl sets and learn how to scratch. It is so incredible to see how dedicated and open they are to the art form. Sometimes communities like these can be a bit exclusive and tend to be very male centered. I found that the owner and the small scene that his bar has cultivated, are really inclusive, welcoming, and encourage anyone to learn, as they should. He ended up using some of the photos I took for flyers and posters which was cool for me. It was really cool to be a part of it for a couple months so I made them this little graphic as a thank you.
